The Hino Hybrid 300 Series has a clutchless system. The ProShift 5 automated manual transmission employs an electronic control unit to control the changing of gears.
When in Drive mode, the vehicle can be driven like a conventional automatic-transmission truck (easy two-pedal operation). Gear changes are executed in accordance with driving conditions and hybrid system mode settings. The operation of the hybrid drivetrain is optimised in this mode, contributing to significant fuel consumption savings.
Drivers may also select Sequential mode, to select gears manually to suit their driving style, or to hold gears in circumstances such as long steep descents. Hino’s ProShift AMT has been designed so that it is easy to drive, requires low maintenance, and provides long service life.
Packed with advanced active safety features our 300 Series offers reduced blind spots, serious braking systems and crush-resistant, energy-absorbing technology.
Wide front and side windows, low instrument panel, large rear view mirrors, specially shaped automatic cornering halogen lamps, and bumper-inset fog lamps contribute to ease of driving in any condition. Vehicle Stability Control is standard, with four-wheel ventilated disc brakes, ABS braking, Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) and Brake Assist (BA) providing stable braking under all load conditions.
Outside, the high rigidity cabin is extremely crush-resistant. Sturdy side door impact beams also increase your level of protection. Inside, the energy-absorbing steering wheel and column, driver and passenger’s air bag and pretension seatbelts minimise shock and injury.

Using Hino’s ProShift 5 automated manual transmission, the relocated clutch means the truck can start off from standstill. The clutch may be decoupled to maximise kinetic energy recovered by the electric generator, resulting in increased energy efficiency and reduced fuel consumption.
The Hino Hybrid 300 Series uses a nickel-metal hydride (NiMH) battery. Worldwide, the same Toyota Group battery technology has been used in over 3 million hybrid vehicles – proof of Hino’s reliability, safety and durability, even in high current applications. With resilience to overcharging and their low cost, you are assured of long life and maintenance free operation.

With the same 6mm thick frame as many medium-duty trucks; they ride on one of the strongest frames in its class. Supported by a powerful suspension system Hino trucks are highly resistant to twisting, bending, and stresses created by heavy loads and rough roads.The cab uses galvanised steel sheeting, treated with a cathodic electrode position coating.
The single-sheet floor panel and waterproof connectors also assist in producing the ultimate in anti-corrosion construction. The rear axle employs a 13-inch differential (GVMR over 8.5 tons), matching those used in medium-duty trucks, and proof that the Hino 300 Series is tough enough to handle heavy loads.
Ergonomically and intuitively designed with the driver in mind the Hino 300 Series has optimised cab space for room and comfort.
From the ease of standard and wide cab access, high roof, ample legroom, tilt and telescopic steering, and sliding/reclining seat to larger cab mounts and thicker leaf springs that reduce friction and absorb shocks from the road, features have been designed inside and out to give drivers what they need to perform at their best.
The hybrid 300 Series includes wide free rack, centre and overhead consoles, door pockets, and upper and lower glove boxes for handy storage and access to items. While a variety of convenient options such as air conditioning and a choice of audio systems are also available.
