Putting Hino to the test
May 15, 2016 11:59 pmFollowing the success of last year’s inaugural Hino NZ’s Hampton Downs Track Day, the 14th of April set the scene for another fun and informative day for invited guests.
In addition to getting to know their clients better, Hampton Downs provided the ideal environment for putting Hino’s product to the test. A particular highlight was experiencing the 300 Series vehicle stability and traction control on a skid pan.
“Drivers often don’t encounter VSC until they need it,” says Hino NZ’s National Sales Manager, Graham McNabb. “Experiencing how our trucks perform in wet conditions with the function activated, compared to how a conventional truck would behave without it, really put the drivers in their employees’ seat.”
Light, medium and heavy-duty trucks were also available for test drives on the track. Without the interference of other motorists, guests were able to take their time to really discover how well Hino trucks perform and just how comfortable Hino’s ergonomic cabs are.
The ZF AS Tronic ProShift 16 automated manual transmission and latest Hino hybrid technology formed another station, where Hino sales staff demonstrated each in action.
With health and safety being in the forefront of any responsible business, a backing skills competition provided the perfect platform for highlighting the advantages of installing reverse cameras. A winner from each morning and afternoon session were rewarded with Ferrari hot laps courtesy of Continental Cars.
Price, application, and safety play an important part in the purchasing decision, but so too does the support provided by Truck Stops, who also had a Track Day activity station.
Hino’s Hampton Downs Track Day again proved popular with guests, contributing to a full brand experience. It is set to become an annual event.
